Pricing is simple and complex, all at the same time. Obviously, you would like to make the most money, whether you have high prices and low volume or low prices and high volume. It is the bottom line that counts.
Pricing to SellDocument
I had two clients, each of whom had left “industry” and were now home businesses. Since they had lower overhead, they could price for less than the big boys and still offer the same quality. I counseled them that their lower price needed to be explained so the consumer would understand that they were still getting top quality even though it was at a discount from the majors.
You need to have what I call a “goldilocks” offering – not too much, not too little, just right.
It is said that you should sell what people want and give them what they need. What do people want? Just like an “easy” button, they are like children and want instant gratification without having to work for it. If you could sell bottled pixie dust that would bring instant happiness, you would retire rich in an instant.
Given that you sell a product or service, what is the optimum price to insure business and still pay the bills? This is something you need to determine for your exact business. Consider that consumers are terribly price conscience and afraid to spend. Nevertheless, there are still those out there who can and will spend.
The challenge it to find those still in the purchase mood and let them know that they cannot possible live without your offering.
Many offers on the internet are designed to inundate the purchaser with “stuff” at a bargain basement price. Who benefits from this?
Does the consumer really want so much stuff – recordings, books, and the like that they will be hard pressed to embrace them? Maybe so, because this type of offering seems to be prevalent on the internet.
I have a confession. I bought one of these packages, and even though I would like to get to the information in them, I have as of yet found the time to do so.
Am I silly? I regret that I am as human as the next person, and I bought. Do I regret it? I regret that so far it just sits there gathering dust. Why don’t I just send it back? I bought it to use, I just have not done so yet.
